Wifey for Lifey Muestra
Wifey For Lifey
I love being a wife to my husband, but the only way I see myself being a “wifey for lifey” is realizing that this is not my most important role. As children of God, we are called on a mission. You were created in Christ Jesus for good works and God’s workmanship.
You are here to represent God; to represent him accurately, cultivate good works in your role as a wife. It is normal to feel disappointed or expect more out of marriage. Relationships are hard. I get it. The day I understood my purpose here on earth, I was able to love better—to not just love my spouse, but love myself and others.
There was a time that I nagged my husband pretty much every day about taking out the trash. One morning, I smelled the stench and saw the overflowing trash and wanted to scream. I grabbed my phone to send the “How many times do I have to tell you to take out the trash?” text, when I strongly felt the Spirit stop me. I looked around my house and saw dirty dishes in the sink. I had a mess of toys all over our living room floor. Yet, God loved me in my mess and imperfections. That day was the revelation of the trashcan. I held back from sending the text and accepted that my husband did not need a condescending text about trash.
This life has little to do with getting married, working your dream job, taking vacations, and saving for retirement. I love living life to the fullest. Enjoying life with your spouse is a blessing. Nevertheless, you were both created to reflect Christ and embody God’s love. God brought you to where you are now, with your gifts and talents, to be His hands and feet. You can be Christlike in your role as a wife. It is not unrealistic; it is how He created us. Sweating the small stuff is easier when you remember God’s grace. When we understand grace, we become more graceful. In my nature, I can be insecure and controlling, but the Holy Spirit is my Helper. He helps us to be more like Jesus. If Jesus humbly came to earth, we can too practice humility. We do not have to win every fight. We can apologize, especially when we are wrong.
Wifey, stay faithful to a life in Christ. Your marriage has purpose. You are your husband’s crown and helper. Your companionship is a blessing to him. You have the power to speak life to him and work with him to build a beautiful legacy that will impact eternity.
