Darkness to Light: An Easter StoryMuestra
Many critics of the Bible like to use arguments such as, “Well, we’ve never found anyone named Pontius Pilate in archaeology, only in the Bible; so the Bible is wrong.”
You know what I say to people who say that? “Keep digging.” They did keep digging, and in Caesarea they found an inscription to Pontius Pilate. It can be viewed in the Israel Museum. Just recently, archeologists identified a ring inscribed with the name Pontius Pilate. There are many other similar examples in archeology where they say something is wrong with the Bible, and eventually find it to verify that the Bible is true. So, keep digging.
We can stand on this Book because of these astounding, incredible prophecies. When it comes to Palm Sunday, it wasn’t just about the timing. It was also on the very day that each family in Israel was selecting a Passover lamb. Then, they were to observe that lamb for four days to make sure that it looked healthy and didn’t have any disease. They would watch it and examine it. They would make sure it was truly without blemish or without spot.
For four days after Jesus entered Jerusalem on that donkey, He was examined. They were asking Him questions and He had all the right answers. They couldn’t find anything wrong with Him. Don’t you think that it is ironic that it was on that very same day that Israel was selecting their Passover lamb? That on the fourth day they were to slaughter that Passover lamb? As they were leaving Egypt, that final plague was the death of the firstborn and the animal was slain. The blood of the innocent animal was put on the doorposts and anyone within that residence was saved from the angel of death. They were freed from bondage and from Egypt, and on that very day, Jesus, our Passover Lamb, was slain. The angel of death will pass over anyone who applies the blood of the Perfect Lamb on the doorposts of their life.
We must receive Him; we must believe in Him; we must accept Him as our Savior. When we do, His blood is applied and we no longer have to fear the second death, the eternal lake of fire.
