EMPOWEREDMuestra
God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us. (Ephesians 3:20) We are empowered in Christ to fulfill great things and God is able to exemplify His power at work in us, but we must be obedient willing vessels. As God’s children we are empowered with potential to do great things, but following God’s directives despite our current conditions and uncertainties is key.
After God called Gideon to save Israel from the hand of Midian, Gideon was given specific instructions from God to fulfill a task God already empowered him to complete. Gideon was to take his father’s bull, the second bull, seven years old, and tear down the altar of Baal that belonged to his father and cut down the Asherah beside it. In addition to cutting down his family’s customs and old ways, God told Gideon to build an altar to the LORD on the top of the mountain stronghold in an orderly way. Also Gideon was to take the second bull and offer a burnt sacrifice using the wood of the Asherah he was to cut down.
Fearful of his father’s household and relatives, Gideon was empowered to take a stand for God in service, obedience and fortitude in the midst of his economic situation and family customs. Gideon was empowered to follow God even in his apprehension. Although Gideon did everything God commanded when no one saw him, he followed through in obedience and his actions were openly displayed before men confirming his relationship with God! Are the actions, thoughts and ways you engage in when no one sees you reflective of Jesus Christ? Can people see that despite your current condition you maintain order in following God’s will, word and way? Gideon operated in the power of God and was empowered to take a stand and follow God’s order despite the disorder going on around him. You are empowered in Jesus Christ to do great things!
Prayer: God, although there is disorder in this world, I know there is order in you. I know that you have already empowered me to do great things and I receive your strength as I stand up for your will, word and way in every aspect of my life despite the customs and ways of others. In Jesus' name, AMEN.
