Navigating Life's TransitionsMuestra
The Bible Provides Direction
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105)
Any significant change in your life requires discernment and decision-making, but sometimes you may feel overwhelmed by the potential consequences of a decision. In such times, Christians throughout the ages have relied on the power of prayer and the direction that comes from reading and applying what is taught in the Bible.
Throughout the Bible, there are examples of how God’s people turned to him. The psalms contain many examples of David crying out to God for help in the transitions of his life and kingship. Daniel prayed daily even in the midst of persecution. Mary trusted the words of the angel and was open to God’s plan. Jesus frequently pulled away from the crowds to find a quiet place to pray.
When we turn to God for direction, he will give us wisdom, confirmation, and encouragement. The Bible is a lamp to our feet and light to our path. Anyone who has tried to walk in the dark has discovered the value of light (hopefully before stubbing their toe). God’s Word is like the light that shows us the way.
Whether your current season of transition might include discernment for employment, a relationship, an opportunity to serve, financial decisions, or something else—take it to God in prayer and let him speak to you through his Word. Don’t make decisions and navigate transitions on your own.
As you pray, take the decisions you face to God in prayer and let God’s Word and Spirit give you direction.
