My Hero: Healing From Wounds of a FatherMuestra
Day 4 - Abuse
Unfortunately, another all too common way in which our fathers can cause wounds is through abuse. Abuse can come in all forms: spiritual, mental, and physical.
Hurt people hurt people. Usually, when our fathers are abusive to us it means they were abused themselves. Sometimes they don’t know how to deal with the hurt, anger, and frustration they have so they take it out on their kids. Things get exponentially worse if alcohol or drugs are involved.
There is no excuse for abusive fathers. Dads are supposed to provide protection for their kids not be a source of danger. Harsh words and physical abuse can leave long-lasting scars.
Abusive fathers can make us fearful. They can also make us rebellious against legitimate authority figures or seek affection in the wrong places.
If you have wounds from an abusive father, it may be extremely difficult to talk about but talk to God about it. Pray God will put people in your life who you trust, who you can express yourself with as well. There are many more who have experienced similar things. You are not alone.
God does not like when His kids are abused. For every father who is guilty of it but does not repent….let’s just say I would hate to be in their shoes.

Acerca de este Plan
Dads can be such important figures they seem almost larger than life, like superheroes. God gave us earthly fathers to be extensions of Him to provide protection, guidance, and love. When they don’t fulfill those expectations, it can cause deep wounding. This plan covers ways we can get healing from the wounds of a father.
