Excellence in Wisdom

Now, let’s talk about what the Queen of Sheba saw. It says in 1 Kings 10:4 that one of the first things she saw was the wisdom of Solomon.

When the Queen of Sheba settled into her six-star (a cut above five-star) accommodations, she was on sensory overload. Of course, she had questions, but she did not come just to interrogate Solomon or to pose some wily test to see if his answer lived up to his reputation. This was all about learning more of Solomon’s wisdom—straight-up wisdom from God to a man who in the future would write a good portion of the Old Testament, from Proverbs to the Song of Solomon to Ecclesiastes.

Remember earlier how Solomon could have asked God for anything in this world, and he asked for wisdom? Don’t miss the key to this answered prayer. By asking for wisdom rather than riches, God granted Solomon’s request to the point that he would become the wisest person who ever lived. And, because his heart was pure and he asked for the right thing, the Lord threw in riches and fame. The proof came from what the Queen of Sheba saw.

If you want to be excellent in everything you do, you need wisdom. In fact, Proverbs 16:16 talks about how wisdom is much more valuable than gold AND silver! If you seek wisdom like Solomon did, then excellence is sure to follow!

The question is: How much do you value wisdom in your life?
