Day 3: God is Faithful
Precious promises—don’t you love those two words? Peter loved talking about the precious things of God. In his two letters, he talked about precious faith, precious promises, the precious blood, the precious stones, the precious rock, and the precious Savior. He is declaring that there is a preciousness of God.
We are to stand on the precious promises of God. We have equal faith among us all. We have the tool and the resource—Jesus Christ. To live our lives, we fall back and stand on the precious promises of God.
God has never failed one single promise and He is not going to start with you. Do you ever feel like that’s hard to believe? “Lord, I know You have been faithful to everybody in human history, but I am just wondering: Are You going to be faithful to me?”
God has not broken a promise and is not going to break a promise, because His perfect faithfulness would then be at risk. How much do promises mean in our culture today? Zilch. Zero. Nothing. Nada. Promises are broken all the time. But Jesus is saying, “I’ll never break a promise. I have great and precious promises. Your life can fall, and I’ll catch you on these promises: I am here with you. I live inside you. I am going to love you. I am going to guide you. I am going to take care of you. I am going to provide for you.”
This is the truth of God. Live by the promises of God and stand strong on the promise of who He is. Our promises in today’s world may mean nothing, but the promises of God mean everything. God is not like someone who has broken their promises to you. Your Father in heaven is not like a promise-breaking father on earth. Your Father in heaven is not like an imperfect boss on earth. Your Father in heaven keeps His promises.
Stand on the promises of God. His promises will take you through your darkest time, your best time, and the times in between. His promises are still strong in every situation. Jesus is strong enough to take you through anything! Thank Him for and trust in His promises today.
