The 'Job 31' Man: Being a Man of Integrity in a Sinful WorldMuestra
Right Worship
We might scoff at the thought of worshipping celestial bodies. But in Job's day, it was a common practice. Even in our era, people may say such things as 'we're all stardust,' which might sound attractive when in truth we actually are animated, God-created ‘earth-dust.’
Not as many people might worship creation now, as compared to Job's day (proportionally), but many people do still idolise 'mother earth'. Man-made climate change may be happening. This doesn't mean to say, however, that we should put the planet before people. Instead, we need to be good stewards of what God has entrusted us with while being sure to keep in perspective that we will only worship the Creator, not the created. We need to see things from God's perspective, not from our faulty viewpoints.
Nowadays, we often are taught that it doesn't matter what we believe. As long as we don't harm anyone, who cares if we bow down to the sun? Job, however, cared about Truth, and the Source of Truth, he hated false religion; we need to do the same!
The Bible teaches that creation alone points to the Creator so that none of us are without excuse. Evolutionists look at similarities in creation and assume a common ‘ancestor’. Christians look at the intricate design in creation and clearly understand that we all have One Designer. Job knew that if he had let himself be deceived by wrong views about the meaning of life, he would have deserved to be punished.
'Creator God, forbid that we should fail to worship You alone, as You deserve. Please forgive us for times we look to things other than You for fulfillment. In Christ's name, amen.'
Do you worship creation or our Creator who made it?
