Quick Encouragement for Medical ProfessionalsMuestra
In the story of Nehemiah, while building a wall around a destroyed Jerusalem to rebuild the land and its protection, his enemies constantly taunt and threaten him.
They say things like his hands will fail, he can't possibly finish this work, and in response, Nehemiah prays.
He doesn't pray for it to get easier or for the need for the wall to just stop. He prays for the Lord to strengthen his hands for the work.
The work we do in medicine is hard, but I also believe it's holy.
I believe what we do matters, even when it feels like the rest of the world doesn't agree.
I believe that a work in medicine surrendered to the Lord is a work He blesses.
I believe every day we are His hands and feet.
The work isn't getting easier, the load isn't getting lighter (and there is nothing wrong with praying for that). But above every prayer for things to change, may my heart be for the Lord to strengthen my hands to do the work I am called to at this moment.
I want to serve the people He has put in my path well, and I simply cannot do that without Him.
I am honored I get this privilege to serve people.
I am honored I get to hold the broken and rejoice with the happy.
I am honored I get to surrender myself and serve.
I am honored I get to operate in His humility.
I am honored I get to walk in faith and trust each day to do my job.
I am honored I get to lean into His strength and not my own.
Medical worker, I believe He is with us; I believe He carries us.
Let’s continue to be a light.
Lord, strengthen our hands for the work.
Lord, we thank You for every opportunity to serve the people made in Your image. Help us image You as we work to heal and help the broken. We can not do it without You. Strengthen our hands and our hearts for the work. Amen.
