DÍA 2 DE 5

THE RESPONSES TO THE CRISIS

Have you ever watched a movie with a scene where the main character had to run away from a life-threatening chase? Of course, it was a very tense scene. Our hearts beat very fast just by watching it. If we ever experienced such events in real life it would be so terrible that we might not be able to sleep. David had such an experience at some point in his life.

Psalm 3 was written when David fled from his son, Absalom. At that time Absalom had carried out his evil plan to usurp David's position as the king of Israel. Moreover, Absalom also wanted to capture and kill his father. We can imagine David's feelings at that moment, and perhaps other feelings such as disappointment, fear, surprise, anger, and destruction were running through him.

David turned to God amid all the threats he faced. A person's response when facing a crisis can show a person's true character. David's response to this crisis in his life showed that knew his God. During his struggles, he did not leave God but still believed in His presence. Even though David was not free from the pursuit of Absalom, he still hoped that God would help him.

Psalms 4 and 5 also show how David still believed and put his hope in God in every struggle.

Difficulties and struggles are a part of life. We will still experience them as long as we live in this world. Therefore, the question is not “why are there so many problems in my life?” but “how do I respond when the problem comes?”

Do we fall into despair or keep believing and hoping in the Lord?
