The Genealogy of Jesus

DÍA 2 DE 21

Today, we will look at a version of Family Feud that leads into the lineage of our Savior. Cain and Abel were the firstborn sons of Adam and Eve. This was the first generation to live outside the Garden of Eden, and we see the depravity of man in Cain’s murder of his brother, Abel. Not only does Cain murder his brother, but he also tries to deny his sin before God. God cursed Cain, and he lived in the land of Nod. There was no way the Savior (promised in Genesis 3:15) would come through the line of Cain. Someone else would have to come.

Adam and Eve bore a third son, Seth, from whom Christ is a direct descendant. We don’t know a lot about Seth, but we know that the descendants of Cain perished in the Flood, and those born of Seth survived.

Each story in the Bible paints a picture of God’s sovereignty, grace, and mercy working through each person despite their failures. The same is true for us today.

  1. How can you live differently knowing that the same God who was sovereign over the lineage of Seth is sovereign over your life in this very moment?

Prayer: God, you are the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow as your Word says. Help me to believe that You are who You say You are.
