Fear or Faith?

That’s when God stepped in like a Mighty Champion. This is one of my favorite Bible verses of all time: Jeremiah 20:11 “But the Lord stood with me, like a mighty champion.” NASB And He did, He stood with me. He not only had my Mentor advise me on a daily basis, at times several times a day and sometimes for hours at a time coaching me out of the depths of despair and helping me come up with a daily plan but I also had a supernatural encounter where God literally showed me who He is. I already knew who He was but he wanted me to know that He was that and more for me. Little old insignificant me. One woman living in a small remote town going through this struggle received attention from The God of the universe. Did he really care that much about me? I wasn’t a famous pastor, I didn’t have a worldwide ministry, I hadn’t written my book yet, but I got a glimpse of how much He cares and it will be with me forever.

If I told you the story of how it happened it would sound really crazy but let’s just say God took me on a journey to see Him. He is mighty. He is valiant. He is a rescuer. He tells us this many times in the Bible such as Daniel 6:27, "He delivers and rescues and performs signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, who has also delivered Daniel from the power of the lions."

Why do we think that he will not save us in our time of need? I’m not talking about saving our souls which he absolutely does and has for those of us walking with him. But he also saves us out of the hand of the enemy. Do you remember the Israelites? He saved them out of Pharaoh's hand. Do you remember the story of Esther? He saved the entire Jewish race from the enemy’s plot through Haman. He has declared He would go through the entire redemption process for just one man. Believe Him, because he does not lie. Therefore, He absolutely would and does.

The only security we have is in our Lord. We have this innate need to feel protected against outside forces. When things go wrong and it feels like there is no protection left, it can throw us into a desperate state. The best thing to do is stand on God’s word and what He tells us. We must take refuge in HIM.
