DÍA 11 DE 21

Whose Word Should I Trust?

Ahab appeared repentant in yesterday’s reading but 3 years later it’s a different story. He never had a true heart of repentance; he still hated the Lord and His prophets. He still wanted the Lord and the other gods to serve him rather than genuinely humbling himself and serving the Lord. Despite Ahab’s brazenness, God mercifully warns him about what is to come if he engages in battle. Instead of heeding the warning. Ahab chose to live in denial and listened to the voices of flattery predicting his victory.

Just like Ahab so many of us are living in denial. We expect that if God is truly for us, then everything will work out how we want it to. Things will go our way. We can do what we want and God should bless it. Yet when God speaks to us through His word, through other Christians, or by His Spirit and warns us against these things, we still choose our own way forward. We are deceived by what the world claims to offer us.

Often when we feel God isn’t speaking to us, it’s not because He isn’t saying anything, but because we don’t want to hear what He has to say. We ignore it or twist it when it doesn’t fit with how we want the world to be. We search around for any alternative. We look for people who will affirm us and our choices until we find them, but in our attempt to justify ourselves we only end up becoming our own downfall.

Thought Point

What might God be telling you that you don’t want to hear?

Prayer Point

Ask God to soften your heart to what He’s saying to you. Ask Him to reveal the path forward for you.
