Trust Like Elijah: Big Faith That Helps You DateMuestra
Answer Me, Lord
I’ve been eager to receive a sign from God my entire life, mainly about who I’ll marry.
I would say to God,
“Please make it obvious to me, make it a really clear sign - DON’T MESS THIS ONE UP, THIS IS IT!"
Elijah was waiting on a big sign too. I’m quite encouraged to see his plea was as fervent as mine has been.
"Answer me, LORD! Answer me […]"
It’s crunch time for Elijah, and he really needs God to show up. The other prophet’s gods have failed to do anything (surprise, surprise) and now it’s Elijah’s turn to ask his God to make fire fall.
I often feel secretly guilty about asking God for the things I really want Him to do – particularly if they benefit me. But why do I feel this way?
It's not like Elijah feels bad for asking God to do the thing that only God can do.
Elijah is direct, he is confident, and he pleads twice for a response. Maybe our prayers should be the same.
What are you reserved about asking God for directly?
The result? An astounding response from God!
Then the LORD’s fire fell and consumed the burnt offering, the wood, the stones, and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench.
“How do I see such miraculous answered prayer?” I hear you cry. Well, I’m still waiting on my big sign too. What Elijah does in trusting God could be a helpful hint though.
Elijah does things the way God instructed. He builds the altar in the traditional way and prepares the sacrifice accordingly.
I really think if we want to see a miraculous move of God in our lives, we must do things God’s way. This is a good place to start in our dating life too.
Elijah had drenched the offering in water, by the way. How audacious of him! How bold! Still, he knows that this will be no problem for the LORD. God never fails to be God - regardless of the circumstances and against the sodden wood odds.
If we are following God, and know His goodness and power, why would we expect anything less?
Trust means knowing that God does not disappoint.
Offer up your deepest desire to Him today.
