How do we know what God wants us to do?

We can know what God wants us to do by building our foundation on His Word. It’s important to build on a solid foundation and know what you stand for before it’s tested. Grow to get to know God and His Word. Decide what’s important to you and what you’re building your life on. If you know this, then you will be able to stand firm. When Daniel was faced with a challenge, being asked to eat the king’s food that he knew would go against God’s instructions for His people, he purposed in his heart that he would not go against God’s instructions. Daniel knew what he stood for and chose to obey God.

You might find yourself in situations where you know what the right thing to do is, but your friends are leading you to do the wrong thing. Maybe you want to seem cool. Maybe you feel like they’ll laugh at you for doing the right thing. Maybe they tell you, “It’s ok, just don’t get caught!”. Disobeying is still wrong even when you don’t get caught. It’s in those moments that we stand firm on God and His Word. When God gives us instructions through His Word, or has spoken to us about something, we should obey.
