Beneath the Surface

DÍA 9 DE 28

Nature has a way of modeling the fact that we will always return to the place we know best. You can count on it. Salmon are born in freshwater streams, but as soon as they can swim, they head out for the open ocean. There, they spend their lives swimming hundreds, or even thousands, of miles across the sea. But when it's time to settle down and have kids of their own, they always go right back to the same place they were born, no matter how far they have to travel.

Scientists don't even totally understand how salmon know the way back home. They might use some form of magnetism. Another theory is that they're able to recognize the smell of where they were born. Or maybe they just have an incredible sense of memory. Whatever it is, it works!

Sometimes, it seems like God made certain parts of nature to teach us a bigger lesson. Just like nothing can keep salmon from returning back home, nothing can keep you from finding a place of belonging with God. The Bible says there's absolutely nothing that can get between you and God's love.

There's a lot about life we don't know for certain. We don't know what tomorrow holds, or who you'll meet or where you'll end up. The most important thing about you is that you're loved . . . and God promises that will never change.
