Dads & Daughters: Stronger TogetherMuestra
Day 3: Cultivating Open Communication and Understanding
"Listen to your father who gave you life." - Proverbs 23:22
Today, let's focus on cultivating open communication and understanding in your relationship with your daughter.
James 1:19 says, "My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry."
As a dad, you play a crucial role in creating a safe space for open communication with your daughter.
Consider the story of Mary and Martha (Luke 10:38-42).
When Mary chose to sit at Jesus' feet and listen, He praised her for choosing what was most important. Listening is a valuable skill that helps build trust and understanding.
As you go about your day, consider this reflective question: How can you practice active listening and create a safe environment for open communication with your daughter?
Part 2 - Daughters:
Quote: "When my father didn't have my hand, he had my back." - Linda Poindexter
Today, let's focus on openly sharing your thoughts and feelings with your father.
Proverbs 1:8-9 says, "Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching. They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck."
Reflect on the relationship between Esther and Mordecai (Esther 2:5-7, 4:12-17).
Esther trusted Mordecai's guidance and shared her concerns with him.
This open communication played a significant role in Esther's ability to save her people.
As you go about your day, consider this reflective question: How can you make an effort to share your thoughts and feelings with your father, allowing him to understand you better and support you in your life's journey?
What does building trust again look like for you and your dad?
This may feel like the scariest thing in your life. It can feel utterly terrifying.
The devil wants you to think it's impossible.
Fear wants to keep you stuck and distant.
Faith is the evidence of the unseen.
God can build this type of relationship between you and your dad.
