Things God Expects From a HusbandMuestra
Day 3 - HE NEEDS TO TAKE CHARGE
God's design for marriage is rooted in the principle of servant leadership. Just as Christ lovingly took charge and sacrificially led the church, husbands are called to emulate this example within their own families. (Ephesians 5:25) states, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her." This verse highlights the sacrificial love that husbands are called to exhibit, laying down their lives for the well-being of their wives and families.
To be proactive means to take initiative, to lead with wisdom, and to make decisions that align with God's will. (Proverbs 14:1) says, "The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands, the foolish one tears hers down." This verse emphasizes the importance of a husband's proactive involvement in building and nurturing a strong foundation for his family. By taking charge, a husband can create an environment of stability, love, and growth.
The Bible encourages husbands to be the spiritual leaders of their households. In (Ephesians 6:4), fathers are instructed to bring up their children in the training and instruction of the Lord. This responsibility falls upon husbands as they guide their families in faith, prayer, and the study of God's Word. By taking charge of the spiritual well-being of their homes, husbands have the opportunity to cultivate a deep and lasting relationship with God and inspire their families to do the same.
Being proactive also means taking responsibility for the overall welfare of the family. This includes providing for their physical, emotional, and financial needs. In (1 Timothy 5:8), the Apostle Paul writes, "But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." This verse highlights the importance of a husband's proactive role in ensuring the well-being and security of his family.
Additionally, a proactive husband seeks to understand and meet the needs of his wife. He strives to create an atmosphere of love, respect, and open communication within the marriage. By taking charge of nurturing the emotional bond with his spouse, a husband fosters a strong and healthy relationship built on trust and understanding.
Biblical teachings emphasize that a husband needs to take charge and be proactive in his role. This involves sacrificial love, servant leadership, spiritual guidance, and providing for the physical, emotional, and financial needs of his family. By embracing these principles, husbands can create a foundation of strength and unity within their homes, reflecting the love and grace of Christ to their spouses and children.
