Path to Purpose: Ecclesiastes

DÍA 5 DE 5

Death is something that most of us don’t want to think about. And death is something that most of us don’t want to talk about. Many of us want to ignore the reality of death or find ourselves immediately uncomfortable when we are confronted with death in some sort of way. And yet, many of us are also curious about what happens to us when we die. We want to know if there is anything beyond this life or if our lives are truly over when we take our last breath.

Thankfully, Scripture gives us answers to our questions about death. Not only this, Scripture also gives us hope in light of death. The Bible tells us that the wages of sin is death and that there is nothing we can do to save ourselves from this death (Romans 6:23). But God in His Grace sent us Jesus who was without sin so that He could take our place on the Cross. Because of His Death and Resurrection, we are able to experience Everlasting Life. And even though our bodies will die someday, we have hope beyond death because our eternity is secure in Christ.

So rather than trying to ignore or avoid death, we can accept death because of the hope of the Gospel. As believers, we are able to embrace death, knowing that death is a doorway that leads to Everlasting Life with our Savior. And with that hope and knowledge in mind, we are able to live our lives with joy. Our eternal future brings perspective to our present, allowing us to enjoy this life that God has given us, even though our bodies are slowly fading away. Because of Jesus, we are able to look confidently in the face of death, for our Savior has conquered death and granted us Eternal Life.

Our world tells us that we can find meaning and satisfaction in our work, relationships, success, and more. But in reality, all of those things ultimately fail us and let us down. Only Jesus can give our lives true purpose and provide us with the lasting joy, life, and satisfaction we so desperately crave.
