The Holy Spirit Continues The Rescue

While Jesus was on earth, He brought heaven a little closer every time He touched someone and healed them, or when He taught a powerful truth and left people transformed. After He ascended into heaven to take His rightful place beside His father, He sent the third person of the Godhead to earth to be with every one of His followers.

The Holy Spirit is one hundred percent God and is called by different names such as Parakaleo (one who comes along), Spirit of Truth, Helper, Counselor, Comforter and Ruach (wind) to name a few. He primarily has been sent to fill every believer with the power of God and to help us know God more. Since He is the Spirit of God, He helps us know the mind and heart of God better. He gives us different gifts that help us bless each other in the body of Christ and enables us to bear fruit so that those outside the church can also experience Christ through us. He is the one who gives us deeper understanding of the scriptures and the one who helps us live our new life in Christ with vigor and purpose. He gives us everything we need to live a Godly life; one that pleases God and brings us into closer communion with Him.

The Holy Spirit is also called the Holy Ghost but is not some metaphysical ethereal being. Rather, He is mighty, for when He moves much like a wind that moves things around, He changes the landscape of our lives. He is like fresh water from a spring that cleanses every impurity while bringing life to everything it touches. He is like a fire that purifies gold while burning away impurities and leaving it with greater value and beauty than ever before. He is the one who continues to rescue us from the clutches of the enemy on a daily basis and help us live in the victory that Jesus won for us at Calvary.

Thought:

You cannot do the Christian life without the help of the Holy Spirit.
