Foundations - Drawing Closer to GodMuestra
Divine order of relationships
What have you achieved? What can you do? Where do you stand? Do you also find that we are often asked these questions? This can happen at a family celebration or a class reunion, for example. Just as often, however, the questions come up indirectly through other people's stories. However, it is no longer by other people saying the questions out loud, but by starting to compare ourselves with others and wishing we had what they have. But how can you realise these wishes? By subordinating yourself.
Subordination sounds submissive to us, like oppression, and probably for very few of us it seems desirable to be subordinate to someone. But what does submission actually mean? First of all, it just means that you place yourself under an order. This can mean, for example, that you bend to the will of your parents and come home on time, even though you would much rather have partied with your friends until the early hours of the morning. Subordination therefore usually means that you put your wishes on hold. Not particularly attractive, is it?
But it can also mean that there is a good order under which you can place yourself. This can mean that someone listens to you when you are sad or that someone supports you in your endeavours. You can find such order in your family, your work or with your friends. Such systems ensure that your life is safer and more secure because there are people who comfort and support you. There are many different orders and, ideally, they ensure that your life is going in a safe direction. Order can be a great thing.
However, the best decision you can make is to submit to God's order. Because if you accept that Jesus, as the Son of God, died on the cross as a substitute for your sins, you can take your place as a child of God in the divine order. Without any advance payment, but with the firm promise that God's work will change your life for the better. Because unlike your friends or family, God is perfect. He knows exactly what you need and he wants to give it to you. And he will give it to you if you live withinin his order.
Next Step: What does the call to submit trigger in you? Do you really believe with all your heart that God's order is good and provides a secure framework for your life? Ask the Holy Spirit to give you guidance and trust in the areas where you distrust God.
