Renew Your Mind
A MIND FOR CHRIST
Let’s go deep and discover how to make a positive shift in our hearts and minds to improve our relationships with God, ourselves, other people, and even our circumstances.
Renewing our thoughts and attitudes is critical if we are to stand strong when our initial enthusiasm for changing our eating and exercise habits begins to wane. Even more important, we will never achieve the wellness and wholeness God wants for us until we rest in our identity as His children, which starts in our hearts and minds.
The desires of your heart are like fuel that must be fed into an engine (your mind), or your life will constantly backfire. The same is true in our relationship with God: He can work in our hearts, but if our minds aren’t being changed as well, we may not make as much progress as we’d like.
Our minds have the potential to harness a tremendous amount of transforming power. In Romans 12:2, the apostle Paul reminds us how we are to filter our minds’ strength. Transform is defined as making “a thorough or dramatic change in the form, appearance, or character of.”
To be transformed. Who doesn’t want that? If you started this plan, I bet you are looking for some type of change. But I strongly urge you not to seek transformation for the approval of others. This is a quick way to a dead end! You must desire change for God and from God alone, for His glory and for your joy.
God gives us permission and power to remain free even when the enemy attacks our minds and tries to steal our joy and our identity as His royal children. We all are offered the power to transform ourselves and our circumstances – but first, it will cost us our minds.
Reflect:
What does God want for your health and well-being? How does Satan seek to destroy that plan in your mind?
