A Ransom For ManyMuestra
The Passover Lamb
Part of Jewish culture was to celebrate feasts and festivals that commemorated a moment in their history. The Feast of Passover began over 4,000 years ago, when Israel was exiled in Egypt. God was sending judgment, but anyone who sacrificed a lamb and covered their doorposts with its blood would be shown mercy, and death would pass over their household. This was the way God would ultimately free His people from slavery and lead them into the Promised Land!
Jesus and His disciples were celebrating this ancient holiday together, but in the middle of the meal, Jesus brought new revelation to the Feast of Passover. As He spoke of His death, He revealed that He was the Lamb that was to be sacrificed, and His blood would be the way to mercy and life for all who chose to follow Him.
His body, His blood- this was the covenant promise that God, through Jesus, would use to break the power of sin and death. Mercy would triumph because Jesus would lay down his own life, paying the price for our sin and bringing hope to all who had been waiting!
Did you know that God made a way for you to receive mercy and experience freedom in Jesus? This is His heart for you – that you would have life and forgiveness in Jesus!
