Shaped by Grace Part 2 - Lose the Lies & Gain God's TruthMuestra
Breaking Up
Lose the lie: “I can’t say no.”
Sweets, a.k.a. refined sugar, can take over a strong willpower. One bite in, and all sound thinking leaves you unguarded. Sugar can bring a feeling of powerlessness to the surface and quickly override your goals.
Demands by a “sweet tooth” can command your mind to submit to your cravings. I want to help equip you when a craving hits and when you’re met with unexpected temptations. Believe me, I know how complicated a simple breakup with Little Debbie can be!
One time I was face to face with a heavy-laden dessert table at a family function. I needed a supernatural strength to overcome my natural desire to dive in (add the pressure of family)! That’s when the Lord gave me my escape plan. I simply said, “No, that looks delicious, but I am passing on that special treat.” After practicing this same response within other social gatherings, I finally gained peace and strength to stand strong against tempting situations.
It’s empowering when you stand up to a temptation.
It sounds simple now, but when you’re faced with a temptation it’s a hard step to take. The last thing you want to do is give your mind over to the control of the food. By saying “NO,” you are telling your emotions how to behave instead of allowing the food to tell YOU how to behave. In other words, you choose where the temptation will go. You’re the boss!
Gain God’s Truth: Fight off temptations like Jesus. The three areas of temptation Jesus faced were the lust of the eyes (materialism), the lust of the flesh (hedonism), and the pride of life (egoism). Satan is out to get you! With the truth from God’s Word, you can give temptations a heave HO! This one step will lift your perspective to a positive response and empower you to resist those tempting foods.
Satan undeniably and most unequivocally abhors it when we obey God. And like sea salt rubbed deep in his giant evil ego, he hates it when you act on God’s deliverance by saying “NO!” When the enemy comes calling with donuts, run! Or act deaf when Satan shouts, “It’s only one bite, no one will know!” A positive “NO” will empower you to take control and to make the right choice.
Acerca de este Plan
There are times when we are caught up in lies and deception. Those lies can accumulate in our minds and influence our actions. This plan offers solid help to recognize those lies and addictive habits and rid your mind of them for good! We are shaped by God's grace and must believe the truth of what His Word says about who we are. This is part two Shaped By Grace.
