Release, Revive, Repair, Rebuild from Brian HoustonMuestra
"For we were slaves." Ezra 9:9
Many people who have already walked through the door of freedom in Christ are still slaves to something or someone.
Jesus opened the door for us. We are no longer slaves to sin or bondage once Jesus has become Lord of our life. In Christ, we are released from the prison of life 'under the circumstances' - we can live above them.
The word 'release' implies momentum and action. It carries the idea of liberation, spaciousness, generosity, forgiveness, mercy and grace. Release is about emancipation - set free from whatever has restricted us. When I think about release, I see prison doors swung wide open with overjoyed people running onto a wide-open field.
Jesus released the captives - in fact, He is the champion of releasing people. An innocent man went to the cross and a guilty criminal released. Jesus paid the penalty for our sin and guilt so we can live whole and free.
As Ezra declared,"to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and give us a measure of revival in our bondage. For we were slaves. Yet our God did not forsake us in our bondage."
It's time to break free from bondages in circumstances, relationships, finance, addictions or health. It's time for deliverance into an overcoming life. Don't settle for brokenness - Jesus came to heal the broken, to release us from everything that weighs us down.
God has not forsaken you. He has not forgotten you nor has He given up on you. Do whatever it takes to walk in the freedom that Jesus won for you. Be humble enough to ask for help if you need it and lay hold of the gift of release God has given you.
What do you need to be RELEASED from today? It could an addiction in the natural, or perhaps a spiritual or mental stronghold? Spend time with God, praying for freedom. Speak these verses over your life today, and walk in the liberty that was bought for you on the rugged cross.
