This week, we will explore the book of 1 Samuel, engaging the transition of Israel from the age of judges to the age of kings. We will spend two days with each of the main characters—Samuel, Saul, and David—seeing both things to emulate and things to avoid as men of God.

Sometimes our desire to succeed or prosper makes us vulnerable to manipulation. Or worse, we manipulate others to get what we want. Sometimes we even try to manipulate God. The Bible passages in this reading plan help us guard against manipulation—either being manipulated or being the manipulators. These passages help us embrace the true prosperity God offers us instead.

This reading plan will introduce you to the book of Samuel, including why and under what circumstances the book was written and how it applies to Christians today.

Whether we are going through a time of personal trial or a season of mass calamity, all of us must face our fears, anxieties, and uncertainties head on. We created this 14-day plan to help you remember God's work in history and his promises for today.

In the first centuries of their existence as a people, the Israelites had no king. Instead, God appointed prophets and judges to lead them. The last prophet-judge was Samuel. He was a faithful leader who wanted to serve the Lord and to seek the best for his people.
