This call to interconnected living defined the early church, and it resonates today for us in the Evangelical Covenant Church as we seek to embody Christ’s radical love in our relationships with others.

During Advent, not only do we anticipate an event that has already taken place – Jesus’s first coming – but we also look forward to and anticipate his second coming! In this devotional plan, designed to be used at your own pace, join the Wesley Seminary community as we journey through the season of Advent.

Christians have various interpretations of the end times. Yet all believers have the hope of Christ’s return, and we are called to discern the times and anticipate His coming. This plan will help you recognize the spiritual season we are living in. This is not a time to sit on the sidelines. We need to understand biblical prophecy, identify end-times signs, and prepare for God’s final plans for the earth.

What’s really out there? While a biblical faith in Jesus is reasonable and pragmatic in many ways, it includes a spiritual realm, as well. During this 13-day plan, we hope to become more comfortable and familiar with some of Christianity’s unseen realities. 

The repeated cry of James is that faith apart from works can never be sustained. We should proclaim this truth because faith makes us doers of the Word, not just hearers. Faith keeps us humble, not proud; directs our tongues to bless, not to curse. Faith causes us to preach the good news to every tribe, tongue, and nation. This is the message of James: Faith/Works.
