Pits and pitfalls are all around us. It may be an illness, an addiction, a betrayal, or a broken relationship. When we struggle in our pit, it can be difficult to understand what God is doing. However, when we look at some Bible heroes who found themselves in a deep, dark, place, we begin to clearly see, God has a purpose in the pit.

This 8-day Bible teaching plan explores the final chapters of Genesis, tracing Joseph’s story and the surprising ways God works through sin, suffering, and failure. Each day demonstrates how God remains faithful when people falter, how grace supersedes guilt, and how the story of Genesis ultimately points us to Jesus. This plan invites you to see your own story through the lens of God’s redemption, forgiveness, and unshakable promises.

It's easy to dismiss the book of Genesis without engaging in the text beyond creation and the fall. But understanding the book of Genesis is crucial to understanding the rest of the Bible. In Genesis, we find the very foundation of our faith, not just the origin of man, but also the origin of God's plan for redemption. Creation is just the beginning.

Unlikely is a journey through the lives of ordinary people God used in extraordinary ways. From Joseph to Barnabas to Moses, each story reveals how weakness, failure, and obscurity are no barrier to God’s call. These unlikely figures remind us that encouragement, courage, and faith are forged in everyday moments, and that God’s presence makes the impossible possible. As you read, you’ll be invited to see yourself in their stories, to pay attention to the burning bushes in your own life, and to trust that God is not finished with you yet.

In this 11-day plan, you will study Genesis 37-50 which will take you through the life of Jacob and his 12 sons who later became the 12 tribes of Israel. These chapters highlight the life of one of those sons, Joseph, and his journey of hardship and forgiveness. We hope you’ll learn the importance of trusting God through difficult times and learning to forgive those who hurt or disappoint you.

When we think about Joseph, one of the first things that comes to mind is DREAMER. We look at the life of Joseph and the process that he went through both spiritually and physically to get from the pit to the palace. In Joseph’s life we see the importance of God’s Timing as well as His Hand over one’s life – despite what things look like on the outside.
