As you follow Jesus toward the cross and the grave, you also pray for future churches among the nations — asking that every tribe and tongue would know the salvation He has accomplished. Ancient faith. Global prayer. Here is salvation.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is a yearly reminder of Jesus’ prayer for his disciples that “they may be one so that the world may believe” (see John 17.21). The theme in 2017, "Reconciliation – the love of Christ compels us," is inspired by verses from the Second Letter to the Corinthians, chapter 5. The resources for the week have been prepared by members of different churches in Germany.

The hope of Jesus was prophesied and earnestly expected for generations. One day, that promise of hope was fulfilled right in Israel’s midst. Everything changed for the entire world at that moment when that dream became a reality. Join us this Christmas as we look at both the promises and their fulfillment through the scriptures surrounding Jesus’ birth!

In Holy Week, we encounter a God who moves ever closer to us, even in our brokenness and shame. Yet what lies before us is a question: will we return to the Lord? This year, through repentance and renewal, let us be ready to greet the Lord at his Resurrection. Can we prosper even as we suffer? The Bible shows us that Joseph, Jeremiah, Paul, and Jesus suffered with purpose—so that lives would be saved. In their suffering, they modeled for us a true prosperity that exceeds what this world promises. True prosperity in suffering reveals God’s presence and faithfulness, our perseverance, our ransom, our forgiveness, and our hope.

Let’s slow down this Holy Week and learn from Christ’s final days on earth. Each day we will receive lessons or gifts that He took the time to give. Do you need a fresh reminder of what mattered most to Christ—that you love His people and follow Him? What could He want to teach you this Holy Week?

As women in the modern world we often juggle the responsibilities of work and school and home. Sometimes life is overwhelming and sometimes it is just mundane. But the God who sent His Son into the world to rescue sinners gives meaning to both the overwhelming and the mundane. He created us to enjoy knowing Him. In knowing God through the Scriptures we find meaning and joy!
