James’ teaching on works complements Paul’s teaching on faith. Paul wrote we are made right with God by faith while James wrote about the steps that reflect that faith. This Guide will encourage you to continue living out your faith every day.

Examine the book of James in three parts: the test of faith, the characteristics of faith, and the triumph of faith. Faith without works cannot be called faith. Faith without works is dead, and a dead faith is worse than no faith at all. Faith must be there, but it must be more. It must inspire action. Throughout his epistle to Jewish believers, James integrates true faith and everyday practical experience by stressing that true faith must manifest itself in works of faith. 

This plan will explore an ancient tradition of contemplative prayer based on Matthew 6 “enter your room, shut the door, and pray to God in secret.” It is a practice of worship marked by deep tranquillity in the presence of God. These guided audio meditations will center on invoking the name of Jesus, finding peace through reflection, and discovering the simple peace when we align with God.
