During a time when there is much loss, struggle, and conflict in our society, it can be difficult to experience the joy that comes from God to renew our soul and strengthen our spirit. Join this devotional that was created by pastors, across the state of Hawaii, to unite together for a time of prayer and fasting for the new year.

Over the next two weeks, we'll follow the Easter story as we remember there is always a glimmer of hope, even in the deepest darkness. We'll talk about how Jesus is with us in the darkness and explore what it means that Jesus is the light in the darkness.

"Be still, and know that I am God;" (PSALM 46:10a). Many Christians are familiar with this verse, but do we really understand it? This exhortation applies when we are distracted by our successes, as when we are fearful and disquieted by some troublesome news. We need to learn to quiet ourselves by opening God’s Word and gaining His perspective in both cases.

The message of Pentecost is that we are not alone. In a specific moment in time, 50 days after the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, the Spirit of God was poured out on all people – forever!
