Who was this man Jesus? Maybe you have read about Him, heard of Him, or follow Him. Over the course of 10 days, we will consider the events in the arrival of our Saviour. How the word became flesh, the virgin teenager who became the mother of our Saviour King, her husband’s wrestle with heart and mind, the birth of their son, the one who would rescue us all, the prophesies of Anna and Simeon, the heartbreak of a nation and the Saviour King becoming a refugee.

When a woman is pregnant, she is “expecting.” What a beautiful way to describe pregnancy! After all, parents eagerly await the arrival of their child. But no child has ever been awaited as intensely and for as long as the promised Savior: Jesus Christ.

Luke-Acts is a two-volume history that provides an overview of the New Testament period and allows us to see where most of the other books fit into the larger picture. Luke was one of Paul’s co-workers in sharing the good news about Jesus, so reading Paul's letters alongside Luke-Acts helps us to understand where Paul's letters fit into both their historical context and the larger Biblical story.
