Every year, the whole world comes together for a week-long celebration of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As one church, let’s look through the eyes of different people surrounding the finished work of our Lord and Savior on the day death died and how we too can experience a resurrected life today.

Every year at Holy Week, believers remember and celebrate Jesus' triumph over death. Together, as we reflect on His life, death, and resurrection, let us look at some of the signs and symbols leading to His greatest demonstration of love on the cross, freeing humanity from sin so that we may live in His hope and victory.

This Holy Week Guide provides daily reflections from Palm Sunday to Resurrection Sunday, including scripture readings, reflection questions, and prayer prompts. Each day offers insights into Jesus' final days on earth, guiding you toward Easter with intentional focus and renewed hope.

In this 8-day study, we will walk through the passion narratives and unpack how Jesus and his disciples understood them as fulfillments of Old Testament prefigurations of Jesus. Our starting point is that Jesus himself was the first to point out these scriptural connections to the disciples (Luke 24:44-46). And, just as the Holy Spirit opened their minds to understand the things Jesus taught them, we will ask the Spirit to similarly illumine us (John 14:26; 16:12-15).

For nearly 2,000 years, Christians around the world have set aside the week before Easter to follow our Lord Jesus Christ on his journey to the cross. We call this “Holy Week.” Beginning on Palm Sunday and ending on Easter Sunday, these eight days afford the Church a unique opportunity to reflect on our lives, repent of our sins, and redirect our gaze to Jesus. We’ve put together a reading plan for the events of Holy Week as told in Mark’s gospel.

This reading plan explores the second Gospel. The persecution of Christians was on Mark's mind as he wrote this Gospel. Mark told the story of Jesus' life in ways that strengthened the faith of early Christians and encouraged them to persevere through suffering.

Mark uses the word “immediately” over forty times in his Gospel, emphasizing the intentional nature of Jesus’ ministry. The quick succession of healings and miracles shows that Jesus “came not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:44). Through Mark’s Gospel, we are reminded that true greatness in God’s kingdom comes not through selfish ambition, but by being the servant of all.

The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus are described in the four gospels. This Easter read about how Jesus endured betrayal, suffering, and humiliation on the cross before changing the world through the hope offered by His resurrection. The final day of Jesus’ earthly life was not a tragedy. It was the culmination of love, obedience, and redemption. This plan invites you to walk slowly through the last hours of Christ’s life, from the upper room to the cross, and into the silence of the tomb. Through Scripture and reflection, you’ll see the depth of His surrender, the cost of grace, and the power of a love that chose the cross.
