Two-Year Chronological Bible Reading Plan (First Year-March)

In this 6-day devotional, you’ll see clips from THE PROMISED LAND, read passages of Scripture, and reflect on questions that connect the Hebrews’ journey to your own walk of faith. Through humor, reverence, and honesty, we’ll discover that God uses ordinary, imperfect people to accomplish His extraordinary purposes.

For millennia, God’s people have been carrying out a weekly Bible study plan. Every year, they read through the Torah from Genesis to Deuteronomy. In synagogue each week, they read and study a Bible passage—the weekly parshah. This portion is a double reading, Acharei Mot-Kedoshim, from Leviticus 16:1—20:27. Acharei Mot means “after the death,” and Kedoshim means “holy ones.”

In synagogue each week, they read and study a Bible passage—the weekly parshah. This week’s parshah is called “Vayikra,” which is Hebrew for “And He Called,” and covers Leviticus 1:1–5:26.

In Part 2 of Leviticus, God calls his people to separate themselves from the world and be holy, set apart for Him. It’s a powerful book. It’s also - if we’re honest - a little dry. But fret not! In the spirit of the Jubilee release, let’s dive into what the Bible says about “jubilee”. 

LEVITICUS 25:54
“If any Israelites have not been bought back by the time the Year of Jubilee arrives, they and their children must be set free at that time.”

The last chapter of Exodus ends with an interesting detail – Moses can’t enter the tent of meeting because it is filled with God’s glory. God’s presence is so holy that even Moses can’t come near! Therefore, God must sanctify Moses and His people for holiness, and this is what Leviticus is about. Leviticus means “And He Called”. God calls us to repentance and a lifelong journey of holiness.
