Jesus has been shining His light into the world since time began. This 5-day devotion series, shared by The Lutheran Home Association’s chaplains, focuses how he shines light into our hearts. With God in our lives, we have everything we need to shine bright on even our darkest days.

The word advent simply means “coming.” The Advent season refers to a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the coming of Christ at Christmas. Traditionally, the church has set aside the four Sundays before Christmas as the season of Advent. This plan contains an order of prayers and readings for the four Sundays in Advent and for Christmas Eve.

This Little Light Is a 5-day devotional loosely based on the song of the same name. It focuses on the idea that every creative act is a light signaling to future generations the power of hope amidst the dark. Each day I will provide you with an opportunity for reflection along with a visual meditation from my own time reflecting on the advent season.

This five day devotional is geared towards helping you to engage with scripture in quiet reflection through this special season of Advent. Four of these sessions follow the Sunday Advent Candle lighting, then a Christmas eve reading of the Christmas story. We invite you to use these in facilitating group/family engagement or for your personal time of devotion. Feel free to use written meditation or the accompanying audio.
