We humans were created for God’s glory. Each breath we take, each word we say and each decision we make should honor Him! This reading plan discusses what it is like to live like that.

We can find wisdom for life in the pages of the Bible and in Jesus's parables. Discover that these parables are more than just interesting stories; they give us wisdom about how we should live our lives to be like Him. God’s wisdom is the foundation for our lives. We belong to the kingdom of God, and we have been found by Him.

Jesus tells the parable of the Prodigal Son to a crowd of tax collectors and sinners, the unsavory people of that time. The Pharisees stand by in judgment. As we read together, we will explore the themes of repentance, returning, and rejoicing. Hopefully, we will be challenged and encouraged as we reflect on our own seasons and events that draw us back towards the Father – only to find Him running towards us!

Jesus had a way of taking ideas that everyone understood and flipping them upside down to show His followers something new. We’re going to look at some of Jesus’ most countercultural ideas and dive into the way they turned preconceived notions and expectations on their heads, ultimately teaching us what it looks like to take Jesus’ lead and follow His countercultural example in our own lives today.

Beginning with God’s covenants with Noah, Abram and David, these readings explore God’s ongoing mission to restore his broken creation, drawing people back to himself. God’s mission finds its fulfillment in the person and work of Jesus Christ, a mission which the church continues today. Luke’s Gospel is a beautiful and powerful telling of the life of Jesus. Luke focuses on Jesus as the Son of Man, the foretold Messiah who came to “seek and save the lost” (Luke 19:10). This Gospel shows us the “Upside-Down Kingdom” - that God uses what the world deems foolish and weak to shame the wise and strong.
