Christmas can be an overwhelming season. We try to feel the joy of the celebration, but our long to-do lists and packed schedules often leave us exhausted and we crawl to Christmas Eve trying to survive until the 26th. In the middle of our very busy days, it's easy to forget what we really celebrate at Christmas: We celebrate Jesus. We celebrate His coming.

Advent can be a busy time for many of us but is often busy to the point of burnout for technical artists in the local church. Matthew’s Gospel opens the New Testament by brilliantly introducing the culmination of the entire Old Testament story. After thousands of years and dozens of generations, Jesus had come “to save his people from their sins” (Mathew 1:21). Matthew focuses on Jesus as King of Kings, who had come to reign on the throne of David forever.

Christmas is one of those holidays that feels timeless. It's a season that invites us to be nostalgic and think about memories from Christmases past. In this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll take a look at the Christmas story to see how something we may have heard long ago can still help us grow today.
