Easter - Where It Happened

დღე 11 - 15-დან

When a monarch (a king or queen) dies, they are honoured in big ceremonies that all the important people in the land attend. The whole country goes into mourning. People line the streets to pay their respects, laying flowers, wreaths, and notes. The king or queen would be laid to rest in an ornate grave or tomb within the castle.

When Jesus died, He died on a cross, the way a common criminal would have died. The soldiers made fun of Him, and the crowd jeered. Over his head hung a sign that said, “Jesus of Nazareth, the king of the Jews.” This wasn’t a sign to honour Jesus as king; it was made to make fun of Him. After He died, He was taken down from the cross and buried in a tomb, like a cave, with a stone rolled over the entrance.

Jesus is our King. There’s another difference between Him and earthly kings. Every other king that has died has stayed that way. Jesus is the only king who came alive again! Jesus is our Risen King.

Easter - Where It Happened

The Bible is not a book of made-up stories; it’s about real people and real places, places we can still see today. As we journey through the places where Easter happened, we remember why Easter happened. We remember that Jesus is our Lord, Saviour, and Risen King.
