Healing Family Relationships Through Listeningნიმუში

God shows love by listening. Have you ever considered what an amazing thing it is that God listens to you when you talk to Him in prayer? He gives you His full, personal attention. He is able to do the same for billions of people simultaneously. The Creator of the universe personally listens to us because He loves us. Listening is a powerful way of loving.
Oftentimes, we neglect to give our full and undivided attention to those who are closest to us. Whether it be our spouse, kids, or siblings, we can tend to “turn off” while we are at home. Taking the time to listen and engage with our family members can go a long way in healing our family relationships.
Have you ever listened to a small child? Once toddlers get to talking, they can ramble on from one subject to the next. Have you ever locked eyes with that child and fully listened? Did you notice, in that moment, how much the child enjoyed talking with you? The child feels your love simply through your active and engaged listening.
Listening is an act of love. When we truly listen to someone, we communicate their value to us.
Reflection Question: Think of a time when someone gave you their complete attention and listened to you. How did it make you feel? What impact did their choice to listen to you have on your relationship?
