Luke 22

CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO
Now the feast of unleavened bread, which is called Passover, was approaching; #Mat. 26:2 Mark 14:1
And the chief priests and the scribes were speculating as to how they might put Him to death, for they feared the people. #Psa. 2:2; John 11:47; Acts 4:27
Then Satan entered into Judas, who was surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. #Mat. 26:14 Mark 14:10; John 13:2, 27
And he went away, and spoke with the chief priests and the captains about a way by which he might betray Him to them.
And they rejoiced, and agreed to give him money. #Zech. 11:12
And he promised, and sought an opportunity to betray Him to them away from the multitude.
Then came the day of the unleaveneds in which it was obligatory to kill the Passover lambs. #Mat. 26:17 Mark 14:12
And He sent Peter and John, saying, “Goand prepare the Passover for us that we may eat.”
But they said to Him, “Where do You desire that we prepare it?”
And He said to them, “Watch, and when you come into the city, you will meet a man carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house that he enters;
And you shall say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest chamber, where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?” ’
And he shall show you a large upper room furnished; there prepare.”
Then they went and found everything exactly as He had said to them; and they prepared the Passover.
Now when the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him. #Mat. 26:20 Mark 14:17
And He said to them, “With earnest desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
For I tell you that I will not eat of it again until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” #Luke 14:15; Acts 10:41; Rev. 19:9
And He took a cup; and after giving thanks, He said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves.
For I say to you, I will not drink at all of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God has come.” #Mat. 26:29 Mark 14:25
And He took bread; and after giving thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body, which is given for you. This do in the remembrance of Me.” #Mat. 26:26 Mark 14:22; 1 Cor. 11:24
In like manner also, He took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the New Covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you. #1 Cor. 10:16
Behold, even now the hand of him who is betraying Me is with Me at the table; #Psa. 41:9; Mat. 26:21, 23; Mark 14:18; John 13:21, 26
And the Son of man indeed goes, according as it has been appointed, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!” #Mat. 26:24; Acts 2:23, 4:28
Then they began to question this among themselves, which of them it might be who was about to do this. #Mat. 26:22; John 13:22, 25
And there was also an argument among them, even this: which of them should be considered the greatest. #Mark 9:34; Luke 9:46
And He said to them, “The kings of the nations lord over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called benefactors. #Mat. 20:25 Mark 10:42
But it shall not be this way among you; rather, let the one who is greatest among you be as the younger, and the one who is leading as the one who is serving. #Mat. 20:26; Luke 9:48; 1 Pet. 5:3
For whois greater, the one who is sitting at the table, or the one who is serving? Is not the one who sitsat the table? But I am among you as One Who is serving. #Mat. 20:28 ; Luke 12:37; John 13:13-14; Phil. 2:7
Now you are the ones who have continued with Me in My temptations. #Heb. 4:15
And I appoint to you, as My Father has appointed to Me, a kingdom; #Mat. 24:47; Luke 12:32
So that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and may sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” #Psa. 49:14; Mat. 8:11, 19:28; Luke 14:15; 1 Cor. 6:2; Rev. 3:21, 19:9
Then the Lord said, “Simon, Simon, listen well. Satan has demanded to have all of you, to sift as wheat. #Amos 9:9; 1 Pet. 5:8
But I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and when you are converted, strengthen your brethren.” #John 17:9, 11, 15
And he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You both to prison and to death.”
But He said, “I tell you, Peter, the cock shall in no wise crow today before you have denied knowing Me three times.” #Mat. 26:34 Mark 14:30; John 13:38
And He said to them, “When I sent you without purse and provision bag and sandals, did you lack anything?” And they said, “Nothing.” #Mat. 10:9; Luke 9:3, 10:4
Then He said to them, “Now, however, let the one who has a purse take it, and likewise his provision bag; and let the one who does not have a sword sell his garment and buy one.
For I say to you, that which has been written must yet be accomplished in Me: ‘And He was reckoned with the lawless’; for the things concerning Me have a fulfillment.” #Isa. 53:12 Mark 15:28
And they said, “Lord, see, here are two swords.” And He said to them, “It is enough.”
Then He left the house and went, as He was accustomed, to the Mount of Olives; and His disciples also followed Him. #Mat. 26:36 Mark 14:32; Luke 21:37; John 18:1
And when He arrived at the place, He said to them, “Pray that you do not enter into temptation.” #Mat. 6:13, 26:41 Mark 14:38; Luke 22:46
And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw; and falling to His knees, He prayed, #Mat. 26:39 Mark 14:35
Saying, “Father, if You are willing to take away this cup from Me—; nevertheless, not My will, but Your will be done.” #John 5:30, 6:38
Then an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him. #Mat. 4:11
And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. And His sweat became as great drops of blood falling down to the ground. #John 12:27; Heb. 5:7
And after rising up from prayer, He came to His disciples and found them sleeping for grief.
Then He said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Arise and pray, so that you do not enter into temptation.” #Luke 22:40
And while He was still speaking, a crowd suddenly appeared, with the one who was called Judas, one of the twelve, going in front of them; and he came near to Jesus to kiss Him. #Mat. 26:47 Mark 14:43; John 18:3
But Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of man with a kiss?”
And when those who were with Him saw what was about to happen, they said to Him, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”
Then a certain one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear. #Mat. 26:51 Mark 14:47
But Jesus answered and said, “That is enough!” Then He touched his ear and healed him.
And Jesus said to those who had come out against Him, the chief priests and captains of the temple and elders, “Have you come out, as against a thief, with swords and clubs? #Mat. 26:55 Mark 14:48
When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not stretch out your hands against Me; but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.” #John 12:27
And after arresting Him, they led Him away and brought Him into the house of the high priest. Now Peter was following at a distance. #Mat. 26:57-58; John 18:15
And when they had kindled a fire in the middle of the court, and had sat down together, Peter sat among them. #Mat. 26:69 Mark 14:66; John 18:17-18
And a certain maid saw him sitting by the light; and after looking at him intently, she said, “Now this one was with Him.”
But he denied Him, saying, “Woman, I do not know Him.”
And after a little while, another saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not.” #Mat. 26:71 Mark 14:69; John 18:25
Now after about an hour had passed, a certain other man strongly affirmed, saying, “In truth, this one also was with Him, for he is indeed a Galilean.” #Mat. 26:73 Mark 14:70; John 18:26
And Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was yet speaking, the cock crowed.
Then the Lord turned and looked at Peter; and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, “Before the cock crows, you shall deny Me three times.” #Mat. 26:34, 75; Mark 14:72; John 13:38
And Peter went outside and wept bitterly.
Then the men who were holding Jesus mocked Him and beat Him. #Mat. 26:67-68; Mark 14:65
And after covering His head, they repeatedly struck His face and asked Him, saying, “Prophesy! Who is it that struck You?”
And many other things they blasphemously said against Him.
Now as soon as it was day, the elders of the people assembled together, with both the chief priests and the scribes, and they led Him into their Sanhedrin, saying, #Mat. 27:1; Acts 4:26, 22:5
“If You are the Christ, tell us.” And He said to them, “If I should tell you, you would not believe Me at all; #Mat. 26:63 Mark 14:61
And if I should also ask you, you would not answer Me at all, nor let Me go.
Hereafter shall the Son of man be sitting at the right hand of the power of God.” #Mat. 26:64 Mark 14:62; Heb. 1:3, 8:1
And they all said, “Then You are the Son of God?” And He said to them, “I am thatOne, as you say.” #Mat. 26:64 Mark 14:62
Then they said, “What need do we have of any other witness? For we ourselves have heard from His own mouth.” #Mat. 26:65 Mark 14:63
