One of the best-known commandments in the Bible is to love your neighbor. Jesus even says this is the most important command, next to loving God. But who is our ‘neighbor’ and what does it mean to ‘love’ him? In this Reading Plan, we will read some of Jesus’ teachings and some real-life examples.

This reading plan will help you understand God's heart towards the poor and suffering and will demonstrate our responsibility. In each scripture reference, read the entire chapter to understand the context of each verse. Ask yourself if you are following God's intentions towards the poor and suffering.

Are you serving others as Christ intended that you should do? Every Christian is called on to serve. We can do that by helping people who are going through crisis. This reading plan explores the third Gospel. Luke described Jesus Christ as the one who saves. Humanity is lost and desperate, without help or hope, in need of salvation. The third Gospel reminds us that Jesus died to save us.

Sometimes as much as we long for community, we retreat from our neighbours and miss out on the fullness of life that God intends for us. This plan reminds us of how God wants us to love our neighbours so we can all experience the fullness of life He intends for us.

The Bible speaks of a love that is unfathomable. God’s love is limitless, offered freely to all people at all times. It is an uncommon love. Humans are complex beings - made of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual components.
