Everyone thinks about the future from time to time. Perhaps yours looks bright, or perhaps you feel uncertain about what lies ahead. What do you personally envision? Do you have specific goals you hope to achieve? What opportunities do you see, and what challenges might be looming? God offers you the certainty of His future. In the Bible, you discover how your future can be truly meaningful and secure.

Throughout the Bible, leaders, kings, prophets, adults and children are blessed by God. We also read in the Bible that God is being blessed. And people may bless each other. What does it mean that God blesses us, that we pronounce a blessing on the Lord, and that people bless each other? This is the topic of these lessons.

Jesus said, “In this world we will have trouble.” Chaos, sorrow, confusion and death are very much a part of our earthly experience. At some stage of our lives, it’s likely that we are going to experience deep physical, emotional, mental or spiritual pain. We will know pain of our own, the pain of our family and friends, and the pain of this world.

Our view of blessed is often tethered to a continually changing spectrum—our circumstances. If life is good, in our view, we’re blessed. If life isn’t going well, in our view, we’re not blessed. But is our definition of blessed the same as God’s? We’ll look at how God defines “blessed.” It turns out, we’re very likely missing how “blessed” we all are—regardless of what’s going on around us.
