Amos 1:1

Amos is often called a prophet of doom. When you begin to read his prophecy, it doesn’t take long to realize that nickname fits. On the surface, his prophecy doesn’t sound like a happy formula for the good life. However, every condemnation he gives serves as an invitation, a cry for us to “seek God and live” (Amos 5:4). This kind of living will bring us peace and true prosperity.

A ministry is not only meaningful in the church; it is also meaningful everywhere. We are encouraged to have a serving spirit in our family, work, and even social life. Through the devotional series "Walking with Jesus", our motivation and ways of ministry will be formed and changes as we get to know God's word.

Written by the shepherd-prophet Amos, this book exposes Israel's sinful religious hypocrisy and corrupt leadership. Amos prophesies against their rejection of God's law and the terrible social injustice perpetrated against the poor and vulnerable. As Amos foretells judgment on many nations, including Israel, we are reminded of the ultimate need for restoration and the promise of greater redemption.
