Everyone seems to be fighting for their opinion to be heard.

Whether it’s a political agenda, a social-justice issue, a family crisis, or a bad customer service experience, there’s plenty to fight and argue about.

The Bible describes the spiritual fight that Christians are in is one of free will – were we have a decision to choose to follow God’s commands, or not.

This free will of ours in the spiritual realm can manifest itself in two ways – following Jesus or sin. 

Sin is any action, thought, or being that is contrary to who God is. The only way to rid our lives of the darkness of sin is to place our trust in Jesus.

But even after we’ve placed our faith in Jesus, sin still easily entangles our lives. The Bible describes our fight with sin as one that we’ve been freed from, but also one that we are still fighting. Every person that trusts in Jesus is saved, but there’s also a process of being made more like Jesus.

Even when we make the wrong choice and we miss the mark, our God still loves us and is molding us daily to be made more like Him.

It’s in that place of free will that we can experience true love, joy, peace, and self-control.
