The Great Commission is more than just a command. When you love people and care about their souls and well-being, you want to reach out to them. It's like one beggar telling another where to get bread. Jesus is the life; Jesus is the resurrection, and there is fulfillment in Jesus alone. We want to be unashamed of the Gospel.
