Writing Your Story
Do you ever wish you could rewrite your story? I did.
For a long time, I hated the relationship between my father and me. We went through a season of separation—one that I’m not proud of, but that brought about much needed healing. Unfortunately, we were reunited because of a grim cancer diagnosis for him. Throughout the last two years of his life, through chemotherapy, experimental drugs, and frequent hospital stays, I observed a man so physically weak yet spiritually stronger than I’d ever seen him. He radiated love.
We often let our circumstances and past decisions define who we are or who we think we should be. The Bible tells us differently though. God can write better chapters for our life stories than we can even imagine. In Christ, we’re new creations!
Instead of holding on to so much hurt and regret, my father focused on forgiving and living. He chose to restore and bring life to those around him, even as his own life was coming to an end.
The days may seem long, but the years go by so quickly. Are you holding on to things that are hardening your heart? Your story is still being written. You get to choose how it ends!
