Sometimes it is good to have a backup plan. You may be planning for something, maybe a day out, perhaps something you want to be when you grow up. There’s plan A, the best option, and what you want to happen. Then there’s plan B, the backup plan.

You might think that because God’s people lived for thousands of years before Jesus came to earth, Jesus was the plan B for salvation. That simply isn’t true!
God’s hidden plan was discussed long before Jesus came to earth. Way back in the book of Deuteronomy, Moses spoke of a special prophet. Moses couldn’t see the whole plan but knew God was up to something! We see hints in songs, prophecies, rituals, and names throughout the Old Testament. The complete picture wasn’t revealed yet, like a jigsaw puzzle - always just a few pieces away from seeing the complete picture.

This plan was even shown to Mary and Joseph. Remember the Christmas story? The angel Gabriel gave Joseph some instructions; he said Joseph and Mary must name the baby Jesus.
