Keep in mind that Jesus has conquered death

“Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel.” (2 Timothy 2:8)

Yesterday, we learned a crucial key point of the gospel message: Jesus Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures. Paul then continues: “… that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures…” (1 Corinthians 15:4).

The verse above, from Paul’s letter to Timothy, states the same. Believers should remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead. Why is that so important? Let me mention some aspects.

Jesus’ resurrection shows that God the Father accepted His payment for our sins. Jesus “was declared to be the Son of God in power ... by his resurrection from the dead” (Romans 1:4).

Jesus’ resurrection is also proof that death has been conquered. When we just look around, death still seems to have the final say. Therefore, we need to keep Jesus’ resurrection in mind! The light of life is stronger than the darkness of death.

Jesus’ resurrection indicates that He has all power and authority on earth and in heaven. We often experience the power of sin and Satan in our lives. Therefore it’s important to remember that Jesus is stronger!

The resurrection of Jesus gives us hope, both for this earthly life and for life after death.
