Called to Honor God

I still remember the day I felt God calling me to lay down my journalism career. I was at my first retreat as an adult with my new Christian friends. During a break, I was reading my Bible by a pond, and I felt the Lord asking me to step away from my life as a journalist and follow Him. This came as a shock to me. Journalism was all I knew.

I may have been trying to write my life story, but God had a plot twist for me. Over the years I’ve learned that how we respond in these Sacred Moments makes all the difference in the world. When we feel God calling and inviting us to co-labor with Him, we shouldn’t take it lightly. God longs for us to say Yes!

I’m grateful that God met me that day in Sydney many years ago and that He later called me out of journalism that day by the pond. I may not have known what lay ahead, but by faith I said Yes to His Call. Instead of rebelling and running away from God, I ran toward Him.

God doesn’t call everyone to leave their jobs. But our careers or hobbies shouldn’t consume us, and they shouldn’t be the center of our identity. Our life and worth and value should center on our identity in Christ.

The second truth in the Six C's of Transformation is that God has called us to honor Him. Our lives are not our own. Almighty God, our Creator, has called us to worship Him and bring Glory to His Name through our lives.

As Christians, we’re called to walk by faith and to love and serve, and pray for one another. We’re Called to follow Jesus, obey His Teachings, pray without ceasing, and love our neighbors, just to name a few of the instructions found in Scripture.

Living for Christ is our main Calling, but God also has a One-Of-A-Kind Plan for every one of His children.

There’s a unique Call on your life. God created you with Extravagant Love and called you to honor Him. As God’s Love overflows in you, you’ll find yourself wanting to serve and honor Him with your life.

When you’re rooted and grounded in God’s Love, you can genuinely pour out that Love on others and serve them wholeheartedly.
