Engaging the Community in Action

“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
(Matthew 5:16 NIV)

This Easter, it’s time to step out and let our faith be seen.

Let me ask you something: if you saw someone walking down your street with a grab-stick and a bin bag, picking up litter, what would you think?
Would you sneer at them? Probably not.
You’d more likely smile, maybe even feel inspired, right?

Why?
Because deep down, we all care about the state of our homes and neighbourhoods. When someone takes the initiative to make things better, we notice - and we admire it.

Now, picking up litter and spreading the Gospel aren’t exactly the same thing - but the principle holds.
When we actively care for our communities, people take notice. And when we combine that with the message of Jesus, the impact multiplies.

This Easter, it’s time to stop blending in and start standing out.
Not in a flashy or self-righteous way - but by serving, loving, and praying in a way that points people to Jesus.

Here’s how you can take action this Easter:

1. Prayer Walk

Grab a friend or your spouse and head out into your neighbourhood. Walk the streets with spiritual authority.

• Pray for repentance and revival.
• Ask God to bless every home you pass.
• Pray for the lost souls in your area to encounter Jesus.

Take personal ownership of your street, your community, your city. If you don’t pray for your neighbours, who will?

2. Organise a Gathering

Gather your Christian friends - whether it’s in your home, a coffee shop, or a local community centre - and be intentional about this time together.

• Worship together.
• Pray for your local area and the nation.
• Encourage each other to step out in faith and share Jesus boldly this Easter.

Revival doesn’t start in stadiums - it starts in living rooms.

3. Arrange an Outreach Event

With permission, bring a group from your church and visit a place where hope is needed.

• A care home - spend time with the elderly, listen to their stories, and pray with them.
• A hospital - offer to pray for healing and encourage staff and patients.
• A prison - share the hope of Jesus with those who feel forgotten.

You don’t need a platform or a microphone to share the Gospel - you just need compassion and courage.

Why does all this matter?

Because when people see the Church in action, it changes things.

Jesus said, “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
That’s not a metaphor - that’s a call to action.

Faith isn’t meant to be private. When people see the Church loving and serving selflessly, they get curious. Hearts soften. Conversations open. And the light of Jesus begins to push back the darkness.

One soul at a time, revival will come. Not through clever strategies or perfect church services - through the faithful obedience of everyday believers.

Because when God’s people rise up and take action, Heaven responds.
